    Default 2NL] 88 Flop a set....3way pot

Button was 81/8/7 through 52 hands. Usually limped, 89% of the time. Folded to cbet 57% of time, 4/7. Folded to flop raise, 100%, 2/2. Had seen him limp/call 0.10 BB raise, on button, with 5Ts. Rest was standard play with a FD and he hit it on turn.

BB was 30/24/13 through 37 hands. BB had donk bet 1/1. hadn't faced a cbet yet so no info on that. I had seen this guy 4bet, after UTG raise and button 3bet, in SB with AQo. Shoved, 5.43, on 356 all diamond flop. No FD, held A high.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    SB ($2.81)
    BB ($5.06)
    Hero (UTG) ($2.11)
    MP ($4.88)
    CO ($1.43)
    Button ($1.94)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8, 8
Hero bets $0.06, 2 folds, Button calls $0.06, 1 fold, BB calls $0.04

    Flop: ($0.19) 9, 5, 8 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.12, Button raises to $0.24, BB calls $0.24, Hero ???

Raise. Not really sure what BB is doing but he could have TT/555/T9 or some crap but button can easily have two pair/A9/pair plus draw that he'll continue with.

Raise. I go to something like $0.72 with intent to get the rest in on turn, if not sooner.

Pot when Hero 3-bets the flop:
    $0.19 + $0.12 + $0.24 + $0.24 = $0.79
    with $0.12 to call
    PSB = $0.12 + ($0.79 + $0.12) = $1.03

    Why bet so small?
Is it due to $1.03 being ~1/2 of Hero's current stack?

i chose the size i did because it sets up stacks nicely to shove turn, and i want to make sure that pair+draw hands are tempted to come along. feels like if we bet too much of the effective stacks we'll only get action from sets, straights, and MAYBE two pairs whereas if we bet like $0.75 we can still get stacks in and we encourage the weaker part of villains ranges to come along and hopefully get "pot-committed"

that's just my rationale. could well be wrong. i don't know much about betsizing strategy

I might just shove. If either opponent has 99, I'm basically going to get stacked no matter what I do. If I bet less, say in the 0.75 to 1 range, I'm highly unlikely to avoid getting the rest of my money in. And I think I'll get called often enough and wide enough to offset the times where the pot would end up smaller if I bet less.
